For teen athletes ready to take their game to the next level, the Gem State Falcons Junior Varsity team is where skill meets ambition.

JV is the competitive core of Idaho’s youth wheelchair basketball program — a team for athletes ages 13–18 who want to push themselves, compete, and grow into the best players they can be.

At the JV level, the focus shifts from fundamentals to refinement. Athletes sharpen their chair skills — speed, agility, positioning, and the split-second control that separates good players from great ones — while deepening their command of the game itself: offensive and defensive sets, court awareness, consistent shooting, and the conditioning it takes to compete hard for four quarters. This is where players build real basketball IQ and learn to read the game like true competitors.

But JV athletes don’t just train — they lead. As the bridge between Prep and the adult team, JV players mentor the younger Falcons coming up behind them while training alongside the nationally-ranked adult Falcons ahead of them. It’s a unique spot to be in: learning from the best while becoming a role model yourself.

For teens, that combination is powerful. JV offers genuine competition, a clear path toward the Falcons’ top team, and a tight-knit community of peers who get it. Whether an athlete is chasing national tournaments or simply wants to be part of something bigger than themselves, Junior Varsity is where the next generation of Falcons is made.
